Prof. Robert Niess and Prof. Jörg Leeser founded the Peter Behrens Debate Club in 2015. This is a forum of architectural discourse, a means not only to improve one’s abilities to discuss architectural issues in English, but to learn about seminal projects in the history of architecture and the theories behind them.
A set of controversial issues in architecture and urbanism will be discussed in four public debates. Each debate will consist of two panels of members and will have a specific topic for point and counter-point discussion. A moderator will address the debate panels and the audience with a theoretical keynote address and will lead the discussion throughout the evening. The panelists will present their concepts and their relevance and defend their individual position in the debate. The reading material will be provided in “Teams” and debate characters will be distributed between the students through a lottery.
