Sofia Jernberg (SWE), Experimentalsängerin, Komponistin, Improvisatorin und Performerin wuchs in Äthiopien, Vietnam und Schweden auf, sie lebt in Oslo (Norwegen). Jernbergs Hauptinteresse gilt der Stimme als „Instrument“. Die von ihr verwendeten Stimmtechniken scheinen einer konventionellen Gesangsästhetik völlig entgegenzulaufen, ob sie nun mysteriös klingende Spaltklänge, non-verbales Gebrabbel, tonlosen oder verzerrten Gesang zu Gehör bringt. Dabei ist sie mit dem traditionellen Repertoire der Stimme vertraut und eine gefragte Interpretin z.B. von Schönbergs "Pierrot Lunaire“ aber auch von eigens für sie geschriebenen aktuellen Parts. Auch als Komponistin ist Jernberg sehr aktiv. Sie schrieb Stücke unter anderem für das Stockholm Jazz Festival oder das Trondheim Jazz Orchestra.
In Düsseldorf wird Sofia Jernberg auf eine aussergewöhnliche Gruppe von künstlerischen Gästen und ihnen im ästhetischen Dialog begegnen:
Akiko Nakayama, Michael Thieke, Etienne Nillensen, Nicola L. Hein.
Im ersten Teil des Konzertes wird Sofia Jernberg eine Solo-Stimmperformance geben.
Im zweiten Teil des Konzertes wird die Gruppe internationaler Gäste das Konzert zu einem interdisziplinären Erlebnis erweitern und auch die Stimme Jernbergs in einen gänzlich anders gestalteten Kontext einbetten.
Das Konzert wird ermöglicht durch die freundliche Unterstützung des Kulturamtes der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf und des NRW Kultursekretariat.

Akiko Nakayama
Akiko Nakayama Born in 1988, is a painter who depict a beauty of convey energy metamorphosis through several media such as installation, photos and performance. Combining the energy of movement and the vibrance of colors, Akiko Nakayama brings pictures to life. Called “Alive Painting”, Akiko depicts the resonance between shapes and textures by using different types of liquids, each with a unique characteristic. In recent years, she is energetically engaged giving her performance “Alive Painting” SOLO & Collaborations in various cities. Michael Thieke
clarinet | composer/performer
*1971 in Düsseldorf, lives in Berlin and Rome
The Berlin-based clarinetist/composer/performer Michael Thieke is equally at home across a broad range of musical environments, such as experimental song forms, collectively composing projects, improvising collectives, and music on the fringes of jazz. He is exploring the minutiae of sound, timbre and noise, with a particular interest in microtonality and related sound phenomena, and with a preference for long-term collaborations and collective work.
Nicola L. Hein (*1988) guitarist, composer, philosopher and sound artist.
Studies: Jazz Music (B. A.), Philosophy / German Studies (B. A.), Sound Art Composition (M. A.). Recently Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, New York. The starting point of the sonic language is the extension of the current playing techniques of the instrument by a wide range of idiosyncratic sounds and techniques. He also works as a sound artist and composer both in the fields of installation and performance, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary collaborations, the creation of (performatively usable) sound sculptures and the aesthetic reflection and processing of different philosophical theories. Theoretical works in the field of music philosophy and aesthetics. Worked with: Evan Parker, George Lewis, Phil Minton, John Russell, Paul Lytton etc.
Etienne Nillesen is a performer and composer from The Netherlands currently based in Cologne/ Germany. The snare drum is a core part of Nillesen’s artistic practice. With an instrumental and physical approach, he explores and pushes the limits of the natural acoustics of the snare drum using conventional playing techniques as well as extended techniques and preparations.
His work involves elements of conceptual and spontaneous composition, structured improvisation, performance, and sound art. Alongside his own work, Etienne is a performer of contemporary music and works with composition, movement and snare drum in a number of interdisciplinary projects.
Etienne appears as a composer and performer on over thirty albums of new music, improvised music and jazz.
