Happy Little Accidents is a Leipzig based graphic design studio founded by Tobias Dahl and Patrick Martin. One programmer, one freelancer and an intern from time to time complete the team. Since 2013 we’re developing visual identities, (typo)­graphic systems and individual websites for businesses, individuals, cultural and academic institutions. In our process we try to develop a lot out of the project’s content and the client’s context and targets. We like flexible visual systems with several ingredients – starting with a strong typography, considerate colour schemes and sometimes a certain photographic language or 3D imagery. We really care about well conceived editorial designs and love to work on sophisticated book projects. However, most of our projects at the moment cover a broader range of media, printed matter in every form, websites, exhibitions, wayfinding systems, etc.

Tobias and Patrick grew up in rural parts of Eastern Germany (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Thuringia). Both met at Bauhaus-University Weimar while studying Visual Communication in 2007. Early educational projects brought them together – like the editorial design for the first issue of Horizonte, an architectural magazine from Weimar. After some years abroad (Belfast, Göteborg) and internships (Karlsruhe, Stuttgart) they’ve graduated in 2012 and 2013 respectively. Their first professional project included the spatial and graphic design for an exhibition about Henry van de Velde, a Belgian architect who was head of the art school in Weimar before the Bauhaus started in 1919. Later in 2013 they’ve won the pitch for the new visual identity of Kunstfest Weimar – an annual arts festival. In 2014 the​ office moved to Leipzig and has been growing slowly but steadily.
