Hyun Kang Kim ist Professorin für Designphilosophie und Ästhetik an der Peter Behrens School of Arts der Hochschule Düsseldorf. Sie studierte Germanistik und Philosophie an der Yonsei Universität in Seoul, an der Universität Düsseldorf und an der Universität Bonn. Sie promovierte 2004 in Germanistik an der Universität Bonn und habilitierte sich 2014 in Philosophie an der Universität Bonn. Von 2006 bis 2015 lehrte sie am Institut für Philosophie der Universität Bonn. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte sind Ästhetik, Designphilosophie, Medienphilosophie, Technikphilosophie, Philosophie der Moderne, Philosophie der Gegenwart und Politische Philosophie.

Her research focuses on aesthetics, philosophy of design, philosophy of media, philosophy of technology, philosophy of modernity, contemporary philosophy and political philosophy.
